Site Indexed By Google – How Long Does It Take? – SEO FAQ

There is no concrete or measurable time frame for any page to get indexed on Google. There are a great many factors that come into play. I have had some sites that literally get indexed within minutes while other sites take several days.

Definitely if your site has not been indexed within a week you need to do some work or some tweaking of the site to entice the search engine to visit.

To check to see if your site is indexed, go to Google and type in site:yourdomain.com. If your site has been indexed, it will appear in the search results. If it says “no results” then your site isn’t indexed yet.

6 tips for getting your site indexed are:

  1. Make sure you have done the on page SEO as best as you can. Include the keywords in the meta title, meta keywords and meta description. Include heading tags, internal links and use the proper keyword density within your content.
  2. Ping your site url in a site like www.ping-o-matic.com
  3. Submit your sitemap to the search engines.
  4. If you have a blog with an RSS feed, submit the RSS feed to RSS directories.
  5. Social bookmark your site at SocialMarker or use Onlywire to send out your url to all of the bookmarking sites.
  6. If your site is promoting an affiliate product, wait until your site is indexed before you add your affiliate links. Google always seems reluctant to index sites set up for affiliate sales.

If that does not get your site indexed, add more content to the site and repeat the above process. Make sure your site complies with all Google’s terms of service.
