A long time ago, I set a goal for myself to learn one new thing each day that would help me be better at SEO, site promotion or coaching. I am one of those people who really values knowledge and am always striving to improve who I am. Today I decided that I would start sharing my WILTs with my readers.
If you are one of those people who want to learn something new about promoting your business then please feel free to subscribe to my RSS so you can get my little tidbits of wisdom and discovery every day too.
Why am I sharing these SEO tips and secrets with you?
- I love to teach and share knowledge that will help others reach their goals.
- I am terrible at keeping secrets LOL When I find something really cool I want to run out and tell the world.
Some of these will be older ones that I have learned over the years, but are not widely known so I will pass them along to you and hope they will help you out.
Did you know that… One high quality back link is worth hundreds of lower quality links in the eyes of search engines? Actually I am sure you likely already know that so that is no big whoop, but do you know how to find those high quality links?
Okay, so I am sure you have heard that .edu and .gov links are worth their weight in gold right? Here is a little trick that will help you get a ton of links on these types of sites. Not only will you get links, but you will get RELEVANT links. So that is a double whammy for the search engines!
All you need to do is type this string in the Google search and replace the “KEYWORD” section with your main keyword.
site:.gov inurl:blog “post a comment” -”comments closed” -”you must be logged in” “KEYWORD”
If you do not find any results in your search, broaden the search by using a more generic keyword that is still related to your market. For .edu links, just swap out the .gov for .edu (duh)
So there you go. How was that for my first WILT tip for you? Pretty awesome stuff huh? I hope you will take it and really put it to good use. Remember though, anytime you are leaving comments on a blog, make it relevant and worthwhile. Don’t waste your time by leaving a spammy or generic comment.
Please leave me some feedback or ask a question and I will answer from experience or I will set out to find the answer for you.
